Police Officer Sneaks into His Home at 5AM and Shoot His Wife and Step Brother Before Killing Self

What began as a normal morning in Mutanda turned into a devastating tragedy after a police officer allegedly shot and killed his estranged wife and her stepbrother before taking his own life using his service-issued firearm.

According to preliminary reports, Officer Muyembi signed out his AK-47 rifle at approximately 5:05 a.m., citing a response to a reported case.

Investigators indicate that he then quietly entered his home using a spare key, where the fatal incident took place.

Authorities believe that Muyembi fatally shot his estranged wife and her stepbrother with the rifle before using the same weapon to end his own life.

Police who responded to an emergency call found all three bodies in the same room.

The estranged wife and her stepbrother were lying on the floor, while Muyembi’s body was partially on the bed. The AK-47, serial number 1674, was found on his chest with the safety catch off.

Investigators are conducting a thorough examination to understand the sequence of events that led to the tragedy.

Although the motive remains unclear, early indications suggest that personal or domestic conflicts may have contributed.

Neighbours described the morning as ordinary, unaware of the tension that had been building behind closed doors.

Authorities are expected to release detailed findings after collecting forensic evidence and statements from relatives and witnesses.

The incident has left the community deeply shocked, highlighting the tragic consequences of domestic disputes and emphasizing the need for support systems for law enforcement personnel facing personal challenges.
