Police in Nairobi arrested handful of eleven individuals who attempted to stage protests over rising fuel prices.
The group had gathered near the Archives area and tried to march toward the city centre before being confronted by anti-riot officers.
Police dispersed the demonstrators and transported them to Central Police Station, where they remain in custody awaiting arraignment.
Nairobi police commander Issa Mohamud confirmed the arrests, stating that officers acted to maintain order and prevent disruption.
He noted that the situation across the city remained largely calm, with most businesses operating normally.
According to him, only a small group attempted to disturb peace, while the majority of residents continued with their daily activities.
Authorities indicated that the planned demonstrations had been mobilised online without clear leadership, contributing to their limited turnout.
Concerns about possible unrest had earlier led many motorists to avoid entering the city, although no major disruptions were reported.
Elsewhere, police dismissed claims of blocked roads along Mombasa Road, confirming smooth traffic flow.
Commanders in other towns also reported calm conditions, with morning rains further affecting participation in the protests.
