President William Ruto has once again made headlines after boldly declaring that Kenya must stop “playing around” and move forward with building a new international airport.
Speaking during a development meeting on Friday, the President expressed frustration over endless talks and delays in key national projects.
“We need to build a new airport, tuwache upuzi,” Ruto said, drawing cheers and laughter from the crowd.
Ruto emphasized that the time for politics and unnecessary debates was over, saying Kenya must focus on modernization and global competitiveness.
He noted that the current infrastructure is no longer sufficient for the country’s growing aviation demands.
“We are a serious nation. We cannot continue operating with outdated facilities while our neighbors are expanding theirs,” he said.
His remarks have since gone viral online, with many Kenyans supporting his tough stance on development,
while others accused the government of ignoring more urgent needs such as healthcare and education.
Some analysts described Ruto’s statement as part of his broader push to position Kenya as East Africa’s transport and logistics hub.
Especially with new trade routes and foreign investments coming in.
The President hinted that the new airport would be built through a public-private partnership to ensure efficiency and accountability.
