Did Climax Bus Torches Turn On During Jirongo's Funeral? Lights Mystery Sparks Online Claims

Originality: Based on my research and after listening closely to Radio 47, claims about strange bus lights during the burial of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo are not true.

The reports spread quickly online and caused confusion among many Kenyans.

The rumors claimed that a Climax Coaches bus involved in Jirongo’s fatal crash switched on its lights while held by police.

Social media users said the incident happened during the funeral in Lumakanda and linked it to supernatural forces.

During the burial on December 30 2025 former Westlands MP Fred Gumo spoke emotionally.

He told mourners that the bus headlights had turned on at a police station in Naivasha.

His words were tied to cultural beliefs about justice and truth.

However my findings and reports aired on Radio 47 show that this never happened. Police officers at Naivasha station confirmed there was no such incident.

They stated clearly that the bus lights did not turn on at any time.

Officials said the bus remained parked and untouched while under police custody. There was no fear among officers and no unusual event was recorded. The claims were described as misleading and unsupported by facts.

Cyrus Jirongo died on December 13 2025 after a road crash near Karai in Naivasha. His car was joining the highway from a petrol station when it collided with an oncoming Climax Coaches bus heading to Busia.

The bus was carrying over fifty passengers who survived with minor injuries. They were later moved to another bus to continue their journey.

Investigators said the driver tried to brake to reduce the impact.

At the funeral cultural rituals also drew attention. Elders allowed a torch and a knife to be placed in the coffin.

This tradition is believed by some to expose hidden truth and may have fueled public speculation.

Further rumors tried to link the bus company to powerful political figures. These claims were dismissed by authorities and the bus company. Climax Coaches said the vehicle had no mechanical issues.

Despite official statements false stories continued to spread online. Experts speaking on Radio 47 warned that grief can make people believe unverified claims. CCTV footage reviewed by police showed nothing unusual.

Jirongo was a well known businessman and political figure whose death stirred strong emotions.

Yet evidence shows the crash was a tragic road accident and the bus lights story remains a rumor without proof.
