The family says the veteran politician was heading to his home in Gigiri after leaving Karen late Friday night not to Nairobi as the police report suggests.
According to police, Jirongo’s Mercedes-Benz collided with a Busia-bound passenger bus along the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway in the early hours of Saturday, December 13.
Authorities indicated that he was travelling from Nakuru toward Nairobi when the accident occurred. The crash left Jirongo dead on the scene, sparking shock across the country.
However, Jirongo’s family says the police version of events does not match what they know.
Family spokesperson Fred Gumo said that the former MP had spent Friday night in Karen and was expected at his Gigiri residence.

“We are still trying to understand the circumstances surrounding his death,” Gumo said.
“He was on his way home to Gigiri, not Nairobi. There are questions that need answers.”
The family also revealed that Jirongo’s body currently lies at Lee Funeral Home, where an autopsy has been scheduled.
