A heated online debate has erupted after Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai took to X to expose what he termed .

As a “billboard frenzy” in Nairobi allegedly linked to Senator Edwin Sifuna and Governor Johnson Sakaja.

Alai accused the two leaders of saturating the city’s streets with promotional billboards while ignoring more pressing issues affecting ordinary Nairobi residents.

The outspoken legislator said that the city’s public spaces had been overrun by billboards sponsored by the two .

Suggesting there was a hidden agenda behind the sudden surge in outdoor political displays.

“People are starting to see the nonsense we are living through as Sifuna and Sakaja fill every available roadside space with billboards,” Alai wrote, questioning why authorities were allowing it to happen.

He further claimed that other high-profile figures such as Aden Duale and Hassan Joho had been mentioned in connection with the campaign.

Though he stopped short of providing specific evidence.

The post has since sparked widespread reactions, with some Nairobi residents echoing Alai’s frustration .

Over the growing number of billboards, while others accused him of trying to stir unnecessary political tension.

Critics argued that both Sifuna and Sakaja have a right to advertise their programs or initiatives .

While supporters of Alai maintained that city aesthetics and accountability should take precedence.

Alai’s remarks have reignited the simmering rivalry between Nairobi’s political factions within the Azimio coalition.

The ODM senator and the UDA-backed governor have often found themselves at odds over issues of city management and development priorities.

As the debate continues, Nairobians are left wondering whether the billboard saga.

Merely a political squabble or a deeper reflection of the ongoing power struggles shaping the capital’s leadership.
